Yesterday I bought a Pedometer to measure the number of steps taken during the day. One needs to take 10,000 steps to loose weight or so says a Dr. on TV. Dr. Oz is a real doctor not an actor. He has a talk show on each day featuring a variety of topics. I thought I'd give it a try especially at home and around the house when it warms up so I can walk around the block. I have it on now but I bet it isn't doing anything since I'm sitting at my PC.

So far today I think I've gone about 41 steps around the house. It is too cloudy outside today. This morning we got some rain then sun and now its getting dark again and we will probably get more rain. Yesterday I did 1265 steps and that is not counting the store. I didn't want to wear it in the store for I was afraid it would set off their alarm.

Don't have it on today. We went to get groceries and to do an errand. Too cold to do anything. Temp is only 45F but the wind is out of the North. The Sun is shinging, too.

Well he's not lonely today. I put it on after lunch. I had a Dr. appointment this morning and before the appointment was watching TV.

Not too many the past two days but it is just Sunday afternoon and I have the pedometer still on till I settle down to watch the Olympics tonight. I'll let you know tomorrow.

Yesterday I had it on between 8:30-2:30 in the afternoon. I did a total of 2057 steps. I forgot to put it on today after we got back from the grocery store since I was watching the Olympics. They showed some of the snowboard competition. More will be shown tonight I think.
Tomorrow I have an appointment with H & R Bloch to do my taxes then we will go to lunch. Maybe I'll remember to put it on whne we get back.

How big is your pedometer LL? I mean, you should keep it on all day to ascertain how many steps you take in a day. I know it may feel weird wearing it when you go out, but if yuo want to know the number of step you take in any given day, or want an average for say a week, you need to wear it all day.

Its small Wick. My pedometer clips onto the waisst of my jeans. Sometimes I just forget till I am at home. So far I have haven't gotten up the courage to wear it out of the house unless its on a walk around the neighboorhood and that won't happen till it warms up some. Maybe next month the weather will be good in the mornings.

You should just put it on and leave it until you go to bed, that way you'll see if you do your 15,000 steps each day. Actually walking, well power walking, is really good exercise. Normal walking is very low impact (less stress on ankles and knees) and power walking is just slightly more. Jogging and running are very high impact exercises puting extreme stress on both knees and ankles, and leg bones in general.

The thing is my pedometer won't stay on. I guess I need a belt but don't have one anymore since the ones I use to wear years ago got too small for me. Hopefully I can find one you just hang around your neck but I doubt they exist. Forgot to wear it after we did our errands like voting in the primary election and other stuff.

Fair enough I suppose. Maybe get a band to put it on your wrist ... or is it too big to do that?

I have two pedometers.. one still in the box
But I was wearing the other one at work but it kept falling off.. maybe when it's cooler and I'm wearing pants rather than a skirt it will stay on.

That is great Cookie. At least you remember yours. I've forgotten most of this week. Bad! However today I rode my excercise bike for twenty minutes and it was 3.9 miles and over 18 caleries which isn't much but its something. Maybe I'll do some errands today. The weather is really nice and warm but tomorrow brings another cold front.

When the gym was open here near work I used to go on the treadmill and walk around 3 kilometres on a 2.1 incline at about 6.5 kilometres/hour for 45 minutes. Used to burn between 250 and 300 calories. Since it closed I haven't been able to do it. Have to find another gym near work I suppose, if there are any that is!!!!!
